One more week until Santa comes!

I'm just sitting here with my Mom's Macbook enjoying a little time to myself to think. Mark and I are sitting next to the beautifully lit tree and watching "Beauty and the Beast". He's totally enthralled and I'm reliving my childhood with the slew of amazing songs on this soundtrack! I just love this holiday time. I love well lit areas period so more and more twinkling lights just make my heart sing. Also the more lit holiday scented candles the better. Pandora's on in the background blasting "She and Him" Holiday mix. Ahhh it's a magical time here at the Bangs house.

Don't get me wrong this magical day still had a spat involving Mom, Mark, Molly and a lamp. A fight between Mark, Molly and a flashlight. But all and all tonight has been good. I can largely attribute that to the blessing my mom bestowed on us today by detailing our house and helping to pick up the mass clutter.

I told David that my New Years' resolution for our household is for everything to have a "home". I don't think I should get my panties in a wad when that doesn't happen because there's a large emphasis on the "MY" in "my New Years' resolution. But either way I'm going to try to be purposeful in my placing of objects around our house. More toys will be donated and I will exercise the demons as Ace Ventura would say.

I just want to take time to list a few hilarious things that have been done or said in the last couple of weeks.

1. Mark telling me that Santa wants me to rub his back, when I tried to manipulate Mark to stay in bed while using Santa and good boy as a con.

2. Mark singing his Christmas carols. He has cute versions of all the classics because he can't remember the words.

3. Mark giving Molly her paci so she won't cry anymore.

4. Jack scaling our Christmas tree for the first time ever after living with us for nearly 7 years.

5. Mark and David playing Candy Land. Mark saying "I'm gonna win on you, Dad." AND David's elatement in playing a complete game for the first time with his son.

6. Mark fighting bed time by whining in bed. I enter and ask him why he's crying. He answers," No, No I can't talk to you. I'm going night night!"

7. MOlly telling David "NO!" for the first time.

Oh there are so many things changing over here at our house. There are days I'm surprised I don't completely loose it, but this family means so much to me! My babies are super sweet and kind. I could not have been blessed more!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Cheer

Christmas through the eyes of these sweet babies is so much fun! Mark is in love with Santa and is learning that Christmas is Jesus' birthday. He's also learning that God's love keeps him safe as we battle his little nightmares. Even though I have to arm myself with immense patience, patience that I don't innately have, these precious babies make the holiday time so much more special!

Merry Christmas!

Funny Sunday morning quotes

Sitting at the breakfast table:
David "the bacon is a little too crispy for me."
Me "I'll never be perfect for you."
David "you're already perfect, you just deviate from it now and then."

Mark walking around with my eyelash curler:
Mark " I am a doctor, I'm gonna cut your eye."

Never a dull moment at this house.

Crazy week

My first week as a business owner and a boss was an interesting one... All I can say is everyday got a little easier and that week is behind us. Thank you, Jesus.

I sure hope this becomes second nature soon and very soon...

On another note it's mine and David's 6th anniversary. We are gonna celebrate at Texas de Brazil and the movies. We are going to see "Horrible Bosses" I can't wait!!!

Tomorrow marks a new start for me...

So tomorrow is the BIG day. I start at my new dental practice! People ask "are you excited?" my answer is always yes but there's also that ounce of terrified that follows that excitement. I don't know how to run a business...I don't know what to expect. All I know is that I serve a great God and he knows His plan for me. So here's to a new path.

"do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.". Phil. 4:6-7

Trying this blogging from iPad thing...

I'm trying to see how many things I can do with this iPad so basically I can make it my third arm.

I've been super busy lately. I bought a dental practice and I will start there full time within the next week or two. Pretty crazy. All within a week...I turned 29, Mark turned 3 and potty trained and I own a practice. Talk about change overload. Fun and incredibly overwhelming!!!

I'll be taking new patients so if you're out there and you need a dentist call me 817-457-4481.

Reflecting on my baby's 3rd birthday!

Our Mark turned 3 on Saturday, June 11 and boy was he excited about his birthday this year! He graced us with his presence at 6:45 am that morning and he wanted me to "Get up!" I said, "How old are you Mark?" He said "two" and I said " I'll get up when you answer correctly." So I asked again his age, and he quickly replied "three". He got me! So I got up...

I baked ALL day for his birthday party. I made space shuttle cookies for the kids, a three layer cake with buttercream icing and marshmallow fondant stars. I literally baked up until the point we had to get in the car for the party.

We took a break from the house for Mark's first swim lesson with Emler. Oh he hated it at first. Big tears and lots of snot!!! Mr. Billy was excellent with him though and fortunately for us Mark is the only one in his class for now. Private lesson...awesome! Mark warmed up by the end of the lesson but he still wasn't really into it. We have an above ground pool at home so we were instructed to get him in it as much as possible this week. When Molly and I got home from grocery shopping yesterday, I was shocked to find my little boy standing in the pool with his dad and playing and having a great time! So next lesson should go much better.

After swim lessons we of course had to go to McDonald's, Mark's all time fave, for lunch. We played for a little bit and then it was time to go home for nap and more baking.

The kids slept up until we had to pack up the car so they were a little groggy on the way to the party. The party was a blast. It was at Abbey's Playtown in GP. Lots of friends came to play and enjoy pizza and cake. Everyone had a great time and played well together! Successful bday #3.

We took the presents home to open with family and he was so geeked! "Look at my new toys," he exclaimed! The birthdays really are going to be exciting for him now. I can't wait to celebrate with him each year!

We ended up the weekend of celebrating with lunch with family at Babe's in downtown Arlington. I had them sing to Mark and he wore a chicken hat and a beak. He took it like a champ. Love him! Wish he wasn't growing up so fast, but I'm so proud of the little boy he is becoming. And on a side note...we started potty training this weekend. He's doing really well. Here's hoping to being finished with training soon, please!!!

Really loving Picasa!

I've been trying to decide if I want to be a Mac girl or stick with what I know, the PC. I jacked my mom's MacBook from her for a few days and although it is awesome, I just don't think I'll ever be artsy enough for it. So I'll save a few thousand and stick with the PC. Thank you Picasa for allowing me to easily have more fun with my pictures. I love you Google!!!

Sibling Love

So the above picture was what I originally intended to post under this title, but apparently I don't know what I'm doing. So here it is above and again I don't know what I'm doing since it's chopped off.

Happy Mother's Day!

Here it is nearly 10 pm and I'm getting some time to relax and reflect on the day...

While drifting to sleep last night I thanked God for the chance to be Mark and Molly's Mommy and I was just thanking Him over and over for the blessings that they are! Dun dun dun...(enter screaming heard from hallway) I look over at the alarm clock and think to myself...'you've GOT to be kidding me' when I see 5:00am in bright dashed lights! Mark was awakened by a nightmare involving monsters. YIKES! What kind of mother would I be to ignore this, so as he's banging on the door yelling for me I am thinking 'alright, Happy Mother's Day it's time to exercise your mothering'. So I crawl into bed with him, per his instruction, and we go "night night". He laid there for about an hour laying slightly still/cloing his eyes/breathing hard in my face/kicking me to make sure I'm still there, and then by 6ish am he was pretty ready to get going with the day. I think that timing is right because that was about the time I got up to go to the restroom partly because my other child was screaming in the other room and that woke me up!

Alright so next thing I know I'm in Mark's bed peacefully sleeping ALONE and the door gets thrown open...it's Mark. (Entering screaming at the top of his lungs!!!) "Happy Mother's Day! Here's your gift! I'll open it for you" By this time he's jumped on top of me, mind you I was dead asleep for almost 3 hours by now, opened my present and then proceeds to shove tissue paper in my mouth. I guess he was just super excited! Mark, Molly and David got me the most precious necklace with two hearts and "Mark & Molly" engraved in a silver pendant with a little drop pearl as well. I love it! I woke up to happy babies and hot breakfast. Way to go Dave! Let's give credit where credit is due, right?! David and the kids also made me a card. That's going in a scrapbook!

We spent the rest of the day with David's family and then ended it with dinner with my parents. It was a very loving and successful Mother's Day. AND probably the best part was at the very end of dinner...Mark's pull up leaked and David got a little urine stamp! HAHAHAHA!!! BEST DAY EVER!

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." James 1:17

Thank you Lord for my blessings!!!

Happy Mother's Day, everyone!

It's become apparent some disciplining is needed...

So my sweet son is testing his limits with his Dad and I, which obviously is normal and I encourage his independence. However there are times that I'm finding I need to reel him in a little more. In my random web surfing this morning I came across two things. One, Kate Middleton, who I am apparently obsessed with...didn't think it could ever happen. She's so cute! And Two, some parenting wisdom. I found the blog of a girl I went to college with and I respect her sweet spirit. I haven't had a chance to check out this website or book yet, but she highly recommends it so here it is people...

April showers bring May flowers...

Last time I posted I was going to achieve all these goals, and as we all knew...I would ultimately fail. If I remember right I did well for a while so I'll pat myself on the back for that.

My good friend, in the midst of my whining, suggested Weight Watchers to me. I thought that I would never come to need that service, but the reality is I'm getting older and I've had 2 babies. It's time to get real...this body is not as resilient as I used to be. I'm proud to say that since joining I have lost 13 pounds and I have 14 more to go to reach my goal weight. I'm thinking the goal may not be realistic anymore though so I might bump it up 5 pounds...so 9 more to go!

Also David and I have really been doing well with housekeeping the last 2 weeks. We have found "The Time Warp Wife". Her blog has a very easy to follow housekeeping schedule and between the two of us we've managed to make our house a lot more clean and sane!!!

This last weekend was Mark's 3rd Easter and Molly's 1st! We are so blessed to have such an amazing, healthy family! Those little munchkins brighten up our lives as well as our families lives. They are truly God's little miracles!!! Molly of course didn't hunt for eggs, in fact she hated the mere feel of grass. She did however look precious in her little smocked bishop dress! Mark had 4 Easter egg hunts in the span of 3 days and so by the end of it all he was disenchanted with the thrill of the hunt. By the second to last hunt he had caught on that Mommy wouldn't let him eat very much more candy so instead of collecting a lot of eggs to open at the end so Mommy could steal the candy...he would open the egg as soon as he found it and eat the candy before I could do anything about it. I'm not sure whether to be impressed or scared!

New Year....New You...New Body please!!!

I never set New Years' resolutions but I decided that I would this year. This year marks the year that my family is complete...meaning I'm pretty sure I'm not having another baby unless the Lord just says I must. So I got to thinkin'...I've been pregnant during the LAST THREE YEARS!!! So no wonder I don't look anything like I used to. I'm hoping it's the crazy stretching of my body and not just my new found sweet tooth...hehe!
Here are my resolutions to date:
1. I will exercise at least 3 days a week
2. I will cook dinner at home at least 4 days a week
3. I will not have dessert more than 2 times a week (this is proving to be the hardest to keep)
4. I will not talk ugly about my body in front of my kids
5. PRAY more often
6. Fold and put away laundry as soon as it comes out of the dryer (I change my mind..this is the hardest one to keep)
7. Take a family vacation this year

Today is January 3, 2011 and I have exercised 2 times since 1/1/11 and cooked at home once this week, the week starting today as I count it so I think I'm doing pretty great! I'm excited about this year. We're complete and we just get to watch each other grow, physically (hopefully just for the kids), intellectually and spiritually. I hope you guys have a Happy New Year!!!
